NORMAS para la publicación de artículos en la ROP (septiembre 2008)
1. NORMAS GENERALES
1.1. Los artículos que se presenten a la ROP deberán cubrir aspectos de política sectorial, científicos, técnicos o históricos y culturales relacionados directamente con la ingeniería civil presentando, además, la debida actualidad. El idioma oficial de la revista es el español.
1.2. La ROP, siguiendo los criterios técnicos y científicos que corresponden a una publicación del prestigio de ésta, someterá a su COMITÉ EDITORIAL cuantos artículos se reciban en su domicilio editorial,. Este Comité trasladará dichos artículos a los expertos que se acuerden quienes serán los que decidan acerca dela idoneidad de su publicación Los informes serán trasladados a los autores y las decisiones asumidas serán inapelables.
1.3. Los artículos deberán ser totalmente inéditos, y no podrán ser publicados en otra revista sin consentimiento del autor y de la dirección de la ROP, siendo en cualquier caso necesario hacer referencia a ésta.
1.4. La dirección de la ROP se compromete, en caso de aprobación del artículo, a publicarlo en su integridad, salvo que, por cualquier causa se acordase lo contrario con el autor.
1.5. Tendrán siempre preferencia aquellos artículos que versen sobre temas de interés para el mayor número posible de los lectores de la ROP, es decir, para el mundo de la ingeniería civil, evitando aquellos que caigan en una acusada especialización.
1.6.- La ROP incorporará a su ROP DIGITAL todos los artículos que se publiquen en la misma. A tal fin, los autores deberán autorizar expresamente, por escrito, a la Dirección la inserción de su colaboración en la correspondiente página web. El modelo de esta autorización será suministrado por la ROP
2. ESTRUCTURACIÓN DEL ARTICULO
2.1. Los artículos principales será publicados en uno de los siguientes apartados generales de la ROP:
o Política de Obras Públicas
o Ciencia y Técnica de la Ingeniería Civil
o La Actividad del Ingeniero
o Historia y Cultura de la Ingeniería Civil
2.2. Como regla general, los originales de estos artículos principales no sobrepasarán las 12 páginas escritas por una sola cara, incluyendo gráficos y bibliografía. Se recomienda para el tamaño de letra el cuerpo 10 y espaciado simple.
2.3. Tanto los gráficos como las fotografías deberán ser de la mayor calidad, no aceptándose las fotocopias, tanto en color como en blanco y negro. Se recomienda el uso de soportes magnéticos de alta resolución, admitiéndose asimismo el uso de diapositivas y de papel (en blanco y negro o color), tamaño mínimo de 13x18 mm.
2.4. Las características técnicas mínimas para gráficos y fotografías serán las siguientes:
Gráficos: resolución mínima de 300 p.p.p.
Fotografías: resolución mínima de 300 p.p.p.
2.5. Todas las fotografías o informaciones gráficas publicadas en un artículo, en caso de no ser propiedad del autor o autores del mismo, deberán incluir su procedencia; y en el caso de estar sujetas a copyright, se acompañarán de la correspondiente autorización para su difusión.
2.6. Los comentarios a artículos publicados o las opiniones sobre temas de actualidad, serán publicados en una sección especial denominada "Debate y Opinión".
2.7. Los originales de estos comentarios tendrán una extensión máxima de 4 páginas, incluyendo gráficos y bibliografía.
2.8. La ROP publicará, periódicamente, las reseñas de las Tesis Doctorales presentadas en las distintas Escuelas de Ingenieros de Caminos, con su resultado. Se aceptará, asimismo, la publicación como artículo de aquellas que, a juicio de sus autores, se consideren de interés adicional, previa aprobación del Comité de Redacción.
2.9. Se incluirá un breve resumen del artículo, de no más de ocho líneas, que será publicado al frente del mismo. Si es posible, se acompañará una traducción de dicho resumen al inglés, haciéndose cargo de la misma la ROP en caso de que no se acompañe.
2.10. Los artículos deberán presentarse en soporte magnético, especificando el tratamiento de textos empleado que será uno de los habituales en el mercado.
2.11. Se harán constar los siguientes datos:
o Título del artículo, que deberá ser corto y enunciativo.
o Nombre del autor o autores (en número máximo de cuatro), sus títulos
profesionales y académicos y señas completas, incluso correo electrónico.
o Cinco palabras “clave” que permitan la localización del artículo
2.12. En la redacción del artículo se empleará una forma de expresión clara, evitando frases intrincadas, repeticiones y, especialmente, el uso de la primera persona y (salvo excepción en los artículos que así lo requieran) las anécdotas personales.
2.13. El texto se ordenará claramente, con titulares intermedios. A fin de hacer atractivo el esquema del artículo, se procurará que haya un titular intermedio, al menos, cada dos páginas del original, autorizándose a la Dirección de la ROP a intercalarlos, previo acuerdo con el autor, en los casos en que se considere necesario.
2.14. Se autorizará el uso de la letra cursiva.
2.15. Se procurará incluir toda serie de mapas, planos, dibujos y gráficos que se adjuntarán a los originales debiendo ser todos ellos de la mayor calidad posible para su correcta reproducción tal como se ha indicado en el párrafo 2.4. De manera excepcional, la ROP se reserva el derecho de repetir, a su costa, aquellos originales que lo justifiquen, mejorando así, si es preciso, la calidad de los remitidos.
2.16. Todas las ilustraciones deberán ir numeradas correlativamente y con pie de foto.
2.17. Será imprescindible incluir referencias bibliográficas, las cuales se ordenarán al final del artículo e irán numeradas correlativamente. Salvo excepciones justificadas, no se admitirán artículos que no incluyan dicha bibliografía
2.18. Se evitarán, en lo posible, las notas a pie de página.
3. ARTÍCULOS EN LENGUA INGLESA
La ROP publicará los artículos bilingües (español e inglés) que se refieran a asuntos que presenten interés para sus lectores de lengua inglesa.
4. CARTAS DEL LECTOR Y CONTESTACIÓN A ARTÍCULOS
La ROP aceptará, siempre, las cartas de los lectores y las contestaciones y réplicas a los artículos publicados.
A fin de mantener la actualidad debida, el plazo para remitir estos comentarios es de tres meses a partir de la fecha de publicación del artículo
5. PLAZO DE PUBLICACIÓN DE LOS ARTÍCULOS
La Redacción de la ROP acordará con cada uno de los autores el plazo de presentación de los artículos remitidos, teniendo en cuenta no sólo el orden de entrada, sino la actualidad de los mismos, publicaciones de otras revistas, volumen limitado de la revista, orden temático, etc.
En el caso de no poder llegar a un acuerdo sobre su plazo de publicación, la ROP devolverá el original a su autor.
6. EJEMPLARES PARA LOS AUTORES
La ROP entregará gratuitamente al autor del artículo cinco ejemplares del número de la Revista en que aparezca su colaboración.
Si el autor desease mayor número de ejemplares, deberá ponerlo en conocimiento de la ROP antes de proceder a la tirada de la revista, pasándosele el cargo correspondiente.
GUIDELINES for the publication of articles in the ROP (January 2007)
1. GENERAL GUIDELINES
1.1. Articles presented to the Revista de Obras Públicas (ROP) shall cover scientific, technical, historical, cultural or policy aspects directly related to civil engineering and of due currency. The official language of the journal is Spanish.
1.2. In accordance with the technical and scientific criteria corresponding to a prestigious publication, the ROP shall submit all articles received at the editorial office to its EDITORIAL COMMITTEE. The Committee shall forward these articles to a panel of experts who shall decide upon the suitability of publication. Authors of articles shall be informed of the reports and all decisions made in the same shall be final
1.3. Articles shall be totally original and may not be published in any other publication without the express consent of the author and the management of the ROP, and due reference shall be made to the same in the event of any such publication.
1.4. In the case that articles be approved, the ROP management shall undertake to publish the same in their entirety unless otherwise agreed with the author.
1.5. Preference shall always be given to articles on subjects that appeal to as broad a reader base as possible, that is the world of civil engineering, and avoiding highly specialized articles of limited appeal.
1.6. All articles published in the ROP journal shall be incorporated in the ROP DIGITAL online version. To this end, authors shall expressly authorize the Management to place their articles on the corresponding web page. The standard authorization form shall be supplied by the ROP.
2. LAYOUT OF ARTICLE
Lead articles shall be published in one of the following general sections of the ROP:
o Public Works Policy
o Civil Engineering Science and Technique
o The Role of the Engineer
o History and Culture of Civil Engineering
2.2. As a general guideline, the originals of these lead articles shall not exceed 12 single-sided pages, including illustrations and references. Font size 10 pt and single spacing are recommended.
2.3. All colour and black and white illustrations and photographs supplied shall be of the highest quality and no photocopies shall be accepted. It is recommended that these be submitted as high-resolution digital images, though slides and paper (black and white or colour), of minimum size 13 x 18 mm, are accepted.
2.4. The minimum technical specifications for illustrations and photographs shall be as follows:
Illustrations: minimum resolution of 300 p.p.i.
Photographs: minimum resolution of 300 p.p.i.
2.5. All photographs or illustrations published in an article that are not the property of the author or authors of the same shall make reference to the source and, in the event that these be subject to copyright, include the corresponding authorization for publication.
2.6. Comments on published articles or opinions on matters of current interest shall be published in the special section of “Debate and Opinion”.
2.7. These comments and opinion shall be submitted on no more than four pages, including illustrations and references.
2.8. The ROP shall periodically publish summaries of Doctoral Theses presented at different civil engineering departments, together with their results. On the approval of the Editorial Committee, the journal may also publish, in the form of articles, those theses that their authors consider to be of additional interest.
2.9. A brief abstract of the article, of no more than eight lines, shall be included together with the article and shall be published at the start of the same. Where possible an English translation of the abstract should also be submitted and were no such translation is enclosed, the ROP shall perform the same.
2.10. Articles shall be presented in digital format in one of the more commonly employed word processing programmes.
2.11. All submissions shall include the following information:
o Title of article, which should be short and precise
o Name of author(s), (no more than four) professional and academic qualifications
and full address, including e-mail.
o Five 'keywords' to allow the location of the article.
2.12. Articles shall be written in a precise style, avoiding intricate phrases, repetitions and, particularly, the use of first person and (except where the articles so require) personal anecdotes.
2.13. The text shall be clearly organized with sub-headings. In order to make the layout of the article more attractive, a sub-heading shall be included on every two pages of the original at the very least and the ROP editorial management shall, on the approval of the author, be authorized to insert sub-headings when considered necessary.
2.14. The use of italics is permitted.
2.15. Submitted articles may include all manner of maps, plans, drawings and diagrams which shall be furnished in the highest quality format to allow correct reproduction as indicated in paragraph 2.4. Under exceptional circumstances, the ROP reserves the right to copy, at their own cost, those originals that justify the same and to improve the quality of those submitted where necessary.
2.16. All illustrations shall be correlatively numbered and complete with captions.
2.17. All bibliographical references shall be included and these shall be correlatively numbered and organized at the end of the article. Articles without bibliographical references shall not be admitted except in justified cases.
2.18. Footnotes should be avoided where possible.
3. ARTICLES IN ENGLISH
The ROP shall publish bilingual articles (Spanish and English) on subjects of interest to English-speaking readers.
4. READERS' LETTERS AND REPLIES TO ARTICLES
The ROP shall admit letters from readers and replies and comments on published articles.
In order to retain due currency, all comments shall be submitted within three months of the publication of the article
5. PUBLICATION PERIOD OF ARTICLES
The Editors of the ROP shall agree a presentation period for submitted articles with each individual author, taking into account the order of submission, the currency of the articles, publication of other journals, the limited size of the journal, subject order, etc.
Where no such agreement may be made with the author regarding publication period, the ROP shall return the original to the author.
6. COPIES FOR AUTHORS
The ROP shall issue the author, free of charge, five copies of the Journal in which their articles appear.
Where additional copies are required, the author should inform the ROP prior to the publication of the journal and these shall be provided at cost.
